Physician Reviews

Dr. Jerry McCullough Chief Investigator at University of California, Irvine

“This is the first study with the cytokinins to show such improvement in almost all categories by both the investigator and subject assessments. The statistical significance in these changes is also quite impressive. The barrier effects on decreasing TEWL and increasing skin hydration are also very good. There are NO safety issues – no increase in acne – actually a decrease in overall acne and inflammatory lesions. The anti-inflammatory effects are noticeable. I particularly like the analysis separating the effects on erythema in those subjects who had pre-existing erythema vs those without erythema. This is very exciting – and would anticipate these improvements to increase at subsequent weeks!”

Dr. Hema Sundaram MD, FAAD – Hema Sundaram Dermatology, Cosmetic & Laser Center, VA and MD

“I’ve been using Pyratine myself now for a little over a month and I’m pleased with the results. My skin feels softer and smoother, several patients have commented on my lustrous skin, and I’ve had no skin irritation. I’m especially intrigued by the reported anti-acne effects of Pyratine. I’m interested to see how Pyratine performs with my patients, many of whom suffer from rosacea or adult acne and would appreciate a dual-purpose therapy that treats these conditions while it rejuvenates their skins. I’m also recommending Pyratine to patients who have fractional laser resurfacing, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and other skin rejuvenation procedures in my office.”

Dr. Rachel Garcia MD– Dermatologist- Dermatologia Clinica E Cosmetologia, Brazil

“Pyratine positively surprised me. The product has effectivelly reduced erythema and inflamatory lesions of rosacea. The lotion is very well adapted  for oily skin and can also control acne lesions.  Pyratine can be combined with other treatments for rosacea and can also avoid irritation caused by products like Azelaic acid. It is a good anti-aging product too. Sometimes its really difficult to prescribe an anti-aging product for a patient with rosacea because of the sensitive skin. Pyratine can control rosacea and treat aging skin at the time.”

Dr. Arisa Ortiz MD Clinical Fellow, Harvard University

Pyratine (Furfuryl tetrahydropyranladenine) is a plant cytokinin that has growth modulatory, anti-oxidative and anti-senescent effects on human skin cells. Studies show this product also improves the signs and symptoms of rosacea-as well as benefit photodamaged skin. In one study, more than 50 percent of subjects with rosacea showed improvement as early as four weeks. After 12 weeks of treatment, 80 percent of the subjects showed overall clinical improvement in rosacea. There was a 30 percent decrease in total lesion count by week four and a 40 percent decrease after 8 to 12 weeks of treatment. Erythema was reduced by 17 percent in 12 weeks, and telangiectasia by 12 percent. More recent findings, presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology, also showed progressive improvement in erythema, lesion counts and telangiectases without any adverse effects with continued use.”

“I’ve started using Pyratine XR, a plant-based growth factor, and specially formulated green tea gels with excellent results; those are nonprescription, but usually found only in a dermatologist’s office.”

Dr. Andrew Hawrych, M.D.Facial Plastic Surgery Center and Skin Care Spa, Naples, FL.

“I’ve been recommending PyratineXR to my patients and am very pleased with the product and results. My patients are very pleased with the results and many have made it a staple in their skin care regimen.”

Dr. Audrey Kuninboard-certified Dermatologist, author, clinician, educator, television personality and CEO of DERMAdoctor, Inc.

“For a long-term treatment, try new Pyratine-6 or more potent PyratineXR. Both contain cytokinins, plant-based growth factors that may help regulate skin’s inflammatory response.”

Dr. Barry Reece M.S., M.B.A. and Vice President/Managing Partner of RCTS

“Pyratine over 12 weeks improves roughness, and skin moisturization in 2 weeks and mottled hyperpigmentation and fine wrinkles in 4 weeks. Reduction in facial erythema compared to baseline occurs as early as 2 weeks.”

Dr. Raymond L. Garcia, M.D.Dermatological consultant, RCTS, Inc.

“Pyratine crème or lotion helps reduce the facial redness associated with conditions such as rosacea, eczema, and contact dermatitis.”
