"Rosacea sometimes looks like acne; one way to tell them apart is that the blackheads are not seen with rosacea. For extremely mild cases, try what is available in stores first: Clinique Redness Solutions, Eucerin Redness Relief, and La Roche-Posay Rosaliac Anti-Redness products are fairly easy to find. But most rosacea cases require the care of a dermatologist, and it may take several months to bring the redness under control. Topical and oral medications, such as antibiotics, can be very effective.
I've started using Pyratine XR, a plant-based growth factor, and specially formulated green tea gels with excellent results; those are nonprescription, but usually found only in a dermatologist's office."

...For a long-term treatment, try PyratineXR, containing cytokinins, plant-based growth factors that may help regulate skin's inflammatory response, Dr. Kunin says. In two separate studies from the University of California, Irvine...the PyratineXR formula cleared rosacea patinets' pimple-like bumps, redness, and visible capillaries by 90, 45, and 28 percent, respectively, in 48 weeks.
NEW CREAM HELPS CLEAR ROSACEA IN 4 WEEKS
So says Arisa Ortiz, M.D. In her study, rosacea sufferers who used a facial cream called PyratineXR...noticed reduced redness and lesions in four weeks, with further improvement occuring through week 48. The surprising side effect: After 12 weeks of use, study subjects saw a significant reduction in hyperpigmentation.
THE ROSACEA DILEMMA
Physicians are still not sure what causes rosacea, requiring them to tailor treatment plans to each symptom.
...Some over-the-counter products may also give relief. Recent clinical trials conducted at the University of California, Irvine have studied the effectiveness of a new moisturizing lotion, Pyratine XR™ (0.125%) for improving the signs and symptoms of rosacea.

...There was 22% improvement in fine wrinkles with Pyratine-6, versus 2% improvement with Kinetin; an 86% improvement in skin roughness with Pyratine-6 versus 35% improvement with Kinetin; and an overall improvement in perceived aging of 24% with Pyratine-6 versus 3% with Kinetin. An additional 12 week study of Pyratine-6 also showed significant improvement in skin moisture content, reduction in skin redness and a 45% reduction in acne lesions.
